As more states across the US attempt to appease White feelings, these laws aim to “cleanse” the truth of our past sins. Banning of books and forcing teachers to pretend that racism doesn’t exist in order to “protect” the delicate feelings of White parents, actions like this continue to sow the seeds of bigotry to its grow deep roots in society. We can not move forward without acknowledging the trauma of our past and present.
